I made these cookies at Easter for my sons pre-school class. But I discovered making them at 9:00 at night, wasn't smart haha I added baking soda instead of baking powder. Thank goodness they tasted fine, and his class loved them!!! But my hubby LOVES chocolate chip cookies, so of course I had to make some for us at home...this time I made them correctly, and they were amazing good!!!

Makes about 42 Cookies

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup M&M's

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place racks in the center of oven.

Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the butter with both sugars, beating on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Add the flour mixture a little bit at a time, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and M&M's.

Use a 1 3/4" diameter cookie scoop (or whatever you have on hand) to measure out dough and place on parchment lined baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 7-8 minutes, rotate cookie sheets, and then bake an additional 7-8 minutes until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center. Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire cooling racks. Allow 1-2 hours to cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
